Final Update: Testing Results Are In for Our G70 Intake Shroud (or Snorkel)!

When we first introduced our custom-designed intake shroud (or snorkel) for the 2022 and newer Genesis G70, it was built based on community feedback, real-world frustrations, and the need for more consistent performance during daily driving and spirited runs. Now that development is complete, we put it to the test.

We ran back-to-back JB4 data logs comparing the OEM intake with the new PLUGNPLAYCUSTOMS intake shroud (or snorkel). Testing covered:

  • Heat soak performance (5-minute idle followed by low-speed cruise)
  • 2nd gear pulls (2000 to 6000 RPM)
  • Launch control acceleration (0 to 70 mph)
  • Regular cruising in various ambient conditions

Heat Soak Recovery

Even in hotter conditions (96°F vs 87°F), the PLUGNPLAYCUSTOMS intake shroud (or snorkel) delivered:

  • Lower starting intake air temperatures (IAT)
  • Faster cooldown after heat soak
  • More stable temps during low-speed cruising

The OEM intake remained heat-soaked longer after stops. In contrast, the new shroud returned to normal temps nearly twice as fast.


2nd Gear Pull (2000 to 6000 RPM)

Both setups were tested under the same road and weather conditions.

  • OEM intake: Showed a sharp IAT spike and moderate boost
  • PLUGNPLAYCUSTOMS intake shroud (or snorkel): Maintained lower IAT and smoother, more consistent boost

Cooler air means denser air, which leads to stronger and more efficient combustion. The data proves this upgrade helps your G70 breathe better under load.


Launch Control Acceleration

While our logs did not include GPS speed data to calculate exact 0 to 60 times, we reviewed IAT and boost behavior from a dig.

  • Lower initial IAT with the PLUGNPLAYCUSTOMS intake shroud (or snorkel)
  • Boost ramped up quicker and stayed more consistent

This helps reduce performance loss from heat soak during repeated launches or track use.


Cruising and Daily Driving

Regular driving logs showed a smaller but noticeable improvement in IAT consistency once the car was up to speed. While both setups performed similarly in light driving, the PLUGNPLAYCUSTOMS intake shroud (or snorkel) held steadier temps and recovered faster in stop-and-go traffic.


Final Thoughts

This is the final update on this product. After dozens of logs across real-world scenarios, the results are clear:

  • Faster heat soak recovery
  • Lower IAT under load
  • More stable boost behavior
  • Better cooling at launch
